Bind YOUR First Book - Pamphlet Binding

This workshop will focus on attaching gatherings of leaves. This is ideal for the artist

or writer who wants to assemble a volume and then create a story. If the leaves are

drawn on before hand, this can be worked around in assembling showing the children

how to insert or attach leaves to the primary book leaves. This will allow a lot of

freedom for inserts and fold outs. The cover will be a simple rigid cardstock

attachment. The sewing will be sewing thread for bookbinding but a simpler example

of yarn and cardboard and other easier to access materials will be on hand to show

children how they can make a book out of anything.

home.

PURPOSE OF SERIES

The goal of these workshops is to foster community and arts awareness in the Freret

Corridor and surrounding community. It is also to create an opportunity for working

artists to use their skills and to promote interest in techniques and ideas regarding

artistic expression inspiring children from ALL of our community.

This program is supported in part by a Community Arts Grant made possible by the City of New Orleans. The grant is administered through the Arts Council of New Orleans.  Additional support is from Neighborhood Housing Services and Du Mois Gallery.
